this lake has a lot of good structure. had good luck on the ice with the northerns and the eyes along the shore in 8-12 feet of water. a 26 1/2 inch and a couple of 22 inch eyes and a 28 inch northern. early mornings and late evenings seemed to be the best. had consistent action the last week of tip-up season.

Like the other reports says this lake is deep and spring fed, as well as part of a river chain, but it is not impossible to fish. There are a lot good drop off on either shoreline that produce nice eyes, bass, and northern in the early spring and fall. The lake is also excellent for crappie and, later in the year, blugill. Besides, if you're getting shut out in Balsam Lake you can always jump through the channel in Red Cedar.
