I have been fishing on this lake for about 5 years. its not a great lake but if you no where the good spots are you can catch 4+ pound northern, some largemouth, and even big crappie and sunny. Unfortunately, due to overfishing this lake is not as good for walleye.

About five years ago my family and I would come up to Horseshoe and catch some very nice crappies through the ice. We never kept more than ten in one trip. (Trips usually lasting 3-4 days) We understand that these little lakes cannot support people taking fish out by the bucket full. I have heard numerous reports of a guy keeping 450, yeah that's not a misprint, 10+ inch crappies in one day while they were spawning. This has ruined the fishing from then on. If I had the guys name I would turn him in, but I will have to do a bit more research. If you do go out on Horseshoe and happen to catch a crappie please throw it back for the sake of future generations. If you happen to catch small northern however, keep them. They make it hard for the crappie population to come around again. If anyone has any info on this incident please post back.
