This review is a little late, because I fished LSG in May 2018. I'm seeing some claim the fishing isn't very good anymore and I wanted to give my experience. The ice was covering the water 9 days earlier. The water temps were in the 50's.
The fishing in the southern portion of the lake was outstanding. We mainly used bass jerkbaits and spinnerbaits. In the 3 days of fishing, here are our results. We boat 1 35" muskie, although we weren't targeting them, smallmouth up to 3.5#'s, largemouth up to 3.25#'s, many pike up to 26", and several walleyes up to 18". The fishing was great for the time of year and the water temperature.
I would definitely recommend fishing this lake.

Witnessed a MAJOR fish kill a few years ago. Dead fish every few feet across the entire south bay and most other bays. Hundreds of thousands of fish - DEAD. DNR said residue from pine trees stuck to fish gills and killed them. Believe it or not I think it helped the remaining (stunted) panfish to grow maybe due to less competition for food. Gills are getting better as are crappie. Milfoil is getting thick in areas. I've been fishing LSG for 30+ years and always avoid fishing on calm nights. Good lake if you want to catch something. Please release the large male gills and crappie! We need to keep the good fish genetics in the lake until it fully recovers!

June 2018, decent crappie lake, can find bigger gills in certain parts of the lake. Musky were MIA the week I was there, small northern and few smallies, did ok on walleyes off the islands
