Thrilzz,

So.... if you leave something laying around in a park overnight and someone takes it, that is on you. Same thing here. Once you move out of sight of an item left in a public area, expecting it to be there when you get back is wishful thinking. That spplies x10 if it is left out overnight (not saying I agree with those taking it, but that is not your water, you dont own it).

If you leave a buoy out you are:
Showing that spot to everyone who passes by
Inviting the spot to get the crap fished out of it
At the very least creating a hazard for props if it is in a trafficked area (and LSG is a HIGH traffic lake).

I still occasionally use buoys. I would never dream of leaving them out overnight, adn I would never leave one in a high traffic area.

Courtesy goes both ways.

And if you leave a buoy out on a spot I consider a spot-on-the-spot, I will move it 100 yards to dead water. especially on LSG. I would actually bet someone else simply moved it or tossed it on shore moreso than stealing it.

If you can afford it, and you dont have GPS, at least get a cheap handheld to lay a marker down on rather than a buoy. If I use buoys now it is usually a visual for a drift or trolling run, not a spot marker.

Good luck.

CLOSE TO THE LAKE!

Invest in a GPS. You'll be glad you did.

Thrillz, that area is about 2 feet deep correct?  Why isn't there a safety marker like the shallow sand/rock bars in the rest of the lake??? Last I checked theft is still theft. Hope you were able to catch some nice ones there.

Thrilzz.  Total bad idea. Lots a traffic there. Would not want that tangle on my motor.

I wouldn’t want to be the one to run over it and have it wrap around my prop.    Take it out when done fishing.

Chainmsn. People have been leaving markers out for decades. Don't be a boorish man about something that fisher people have been doing for a long time. Worry more about the speeders and drunks driving boats, those are bigger threats!!!

You left a navigation hazard unattended on a busy lake overnight and are whining that whoever picked it up stole it? You are lucky that a warden or lake patrol didn't find it. It's not your personal spot to clutter up.

I used the bouys to Mark a hump and I left them out overnight. Only to return and find that they were taken both days.

Thrillz…Someone stole your markers while you were fishing or did you leave them out to find that spot later?

Use empty beer cans, nobody will bother picking them up.
