Birch is a weed lake, with weeds on the shallow bars in the middle of the lake. Over the last several years, the weeds have been damaged or destroyed by jet skiers and boaters who run through them at full throttle. If you come on to this lake, get a topo map and navigate in the deep channels. Please, respect the weeds. Without them, the fishing will die out. This is a very good lake, but tough to fish. Lots of structure -- hard to fish without a good map and finder.

We love Birch! Birch is wonderful! Good fishing. My dad has problems with his home created "weedless-fishless" musky lures. He gets lots and lots and lots of follows and strikes but he can't set the hook. We have been catching lots of little fishies with jigs. We have also been fishing with spoons and will fish with spinner baits for muskies. (We Hope!) But we love Birch!
