Thank you DNR for listening to the Birchwwod community. To the BCBLA Lake Association - listen to your community and redirect your attention to lake education, nearshore property improvements, improve our lake native plant species and support our continued successful walleye lake stocking and many of us will rejoin your Lake Association. Most importantly join us in our message of no more chemicals - herbicides or alum!!!!

I have fished Big Chetac my entire life. It truely was a fish factory until all the weed beds in the north half of the lake were killed and the panfish population was decemated by over fishing and the walleye over 15" were speared to oblivion. It is truely a GREAT bass lake now and small pike are abundant. Crappies are all 7 inches long. All big perch are gone. Please help use reestablish this great lake by choosing to do the following. Keep ONLY 15 panfish a day and only 5 bluegills. Keep all largemouth bass between 10 and 15". Release all large bass and pike. Learn to fillet bass and pike they are great eating. Release all crappies under 9". If we would all do this the lake would heal itself in 3 years and we all could enjoy panfishing again.
