I lived on Second Lake for about two years. Right at the NW edge on county E. The first couple of days there I set tip ups roughly half ways from the bank to the center of the "lake." I didn't get one flag using shiners. I wasn't too surprised since it was cloudy and that was some of the darkest brown water I've ever seen. Then there's the depth. You have to drill through over 2 ft of ice to get to 3 ft of water. The other couple guys didn't have any luck either. I can't recommend ice fishing here unless you have to. Open water is a little better. I've caught and seen others catch blue gills, large mouth, northerns, but rarely any walleye. But if you like fishing bluegills or
northerns then you might have fun. I caught northerns day, night, and during a thunderstorm once. 40+ inchers aren't too hard too find. Just chase the splashes around with a spinner. But if you don't like catching northern or blue gills or having weed beds everywhere or shallow, murky water, don't waste the ride there.
