Just gotta know where to find the good fish
I have relatives on this lake and every summer I come up to visit. To anyone who is wondering what fishing is like in NC lakes, consider yourself lucky to have access to these kinds of lakes up North. I have caught lots of decent sized largemouth bass and even a good sized smallmouth in the sandy/ rocky area in marl bay. I have caught huge bass in the back pockets where the dam is and have even caught a walleye near the entrance to that same bay at night on a whopper plopper lol! I have caught northern pike as well on occasion. The water is semi clear and pretty clean. Just be aware that there are TONS of weeds and pads. Make sure to Texas rig everything you are using in a shallow area. Topwater fishing here is so much fun always. I was absolutely slaying largies, smallies, rock bass and northerns on the 3.5 in rage tail twin tail menace grub by strike king. That bait seemed to work wonders. I also had great results using jigs for bass with the same twin tail grub as a trailer for the deeper weedy/ stumpy areas. And don't forget to bring along a whopper plopper 110! One last thing, this lake is the perfect sized lake for kayak fishing. No big fancy boats or expensive electronics needed. Just throw in your yak, grab a case of beer and a sandwich and go crazy! Hope this helps.

I don't know what the guy below me is talking about it is a ok lake that is overfished and it has good sized bass like any were from 8 inched to 20 inches that's the biggest I've ever caught and I have a cabin on the lake small gills to but otherwise no fantastic fishing and I know it says walleye but I've only herd one report of one being caught.

Best bass lake in the midwest. Have never caught one less than 6 pounds. The average is about 8 pounds. My friend even caught one a little better than 10
