I tried fly fishing on this lake on 7/7/2017, as it is listed on Lake-Link as having brown, rainbow and lake trout fishing. There are no signs directing you to the path to reach the lake and it is only accessible by footpath with side of the Hwy 32 South road parking. After about 2 1/2 hours in the lake, I was approached by 3 Oconto County Sheriff Deputies who informed me that Klaus Lake is a private lake and I was guilty of trespassing. Thankfully, the deputies let me off with a warning and escorted me off the lake and back to my vehicle. The officers went so far as to follow my vehicle until I left the city limits of Gillett, I'm imagining to make certain that I didn't go back to Klaus Lake ? I saw no signs posted that indicated that I was on private property nor that the lake isn't for public use but I plan on contacting Wisconsin DNR to get clarification on the available status of Klaus Lake, for future reference.
