Fished Shoe Lake today for the first time in five years. Went out with a buddy on a canoe (no gas motors allowed) targeting largemouth bass. Combined we caught 8-10 largemouth during the mid-afternoon (blue skies, hot, sunny), all along the lilly pads and the sharp dropoffs near them. Saw a ton of baby largemouth schools moving along the edges. Also saw a ton of panfish and crappie along the dropoffs (water visibility of about four feet). The largemouth we caught were on average 14 inches long, largest one being 18 inches, three pounds. Didn't catch anything "big," though - looks like the larger fish have moved to the lake's deeper, more central waters. We released all of our fish, as always. The lake is reported to hold northern pike, but we didn't see any. Overall the lake is looking great - the fish population appears to be higher, and there's plenty of weed and pad growth for shade and cover. It's now on our fishing waters list - PM me with questions if you have any. Practice catch and release wherever you go!

Fished the lake this summer. Small bluegills and Crappies. I also saw some stunted bass. From what I could tell there isn't too much structure in the lake. However, the lake used to be good... I believe it got overfished and in a few years it could be back on track.
