If you have young kids, you don't need to travel any further than the boat launch. My kids had a blast catching small panfish all day long. And we have caught some northerns casting off the dock as well. The water is crystal clear and you can see the fish swimming below.

Muskie and northern fishing has slowed a lot in the last few years, but put time into it and success will come. Fun lake for panfish as well.
