Rich in wild life Lake Sinissippi is one of my favorite spots. The lake is quite large and the boating wonderful. Tubing, skiing, personal watercraft use are excellent. The water has sediment but is very clean as the sediment is a result of water coming through the federally protected Horicon Marsh. There are 13 islands on the lake so every trip is a chance to see something new. Its fed by the rock river and you can even boat the river all the way up to the dam in Horicon. The wildlife includes a large flock of pelicans in the spring and summer, bald eagles that nest on the lake, cranes, cormorants, beavers, turtles etc. the fishing isn?t great from what I understand but that doesn?t matter as I don?t fish much and the beauty and serenity of the lake is all I need. Sunsets over the lake can be breathtaking.

The views and scenery are great and the lake is very quiet so if your goal is relaxation with picturesque views you will most like enjoy this lake. However, if you want to actually do anything in or on the water this lake should be avoided. We visited in August of 2019 and were shocked at the water quality. There is little to no visibility (a combination of murky/muddy water and excessive algae) and the water is more reminiscent of a swamp/marsh than a lake. In addition to the low visibility and slimy algae floating on top there is a noticeable smell, especially at night, that makes me wonder how much farm runoff there is in the lake. We did not feel comfortable doing anything on the water other than kayaking and showered promptly afterward.

This lake is part of the Rock River so of course there are carp and bullhead. If you want to fish, find a different lake. If you want relaxation, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets, this is a great lake. There are river otters and lots of water birds because of the close proximity to Horicon Marsh. Great lake for boating, waterskiing, jet skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. There are other ways to enjoy this lake besides fishing!
