In my annual PSA, the landing at Lottes park is open, piers are in as always.

Earliest I can ever recall, more than a full week til the game fish season ends.

Ice is OK right now (not great) but the track in there is a muddy mess! Seen a video today on FB where the guy was up to boot high on water in places getting thru the marsh! No thanks, Ive got better places to fish!

I agree that Monona Bay is an excellent place for kids to fish . There are three parking lots and a playground. It is big enough to get away from other fishermen. Also the depth is fairly constant, unlike upper mud which varies from 6 to over 20 feet. There are pike and panfish scattered throughout.

.icefitchin , I would take the boys to waubesa , if you want to keep them busy for bluegills take them to Wingra or Monona Bay . A gold jig and spikes for gills .

Catchem,

I see you’ve only been a registered user for a few days. When your parents signed you up, they may not have explained to you what this site often entails.

I’ll speak slowly with simple words, so you have a chance of understanding the concept.

This is a site where adults often talk about the outdoors and their passion for doing so. Sometimes these conversations include helping out fellow sportsman. Sometimes not. I want to take my kids out fishing this weekend. I plan on going somewhere regardless of me  getting a response from anybody on Lake-Link. But it also never hurts to ask. This used to be the foreground for this site. And has steadily gone down hill because of comments such as yours.

Hopes this helps you grasp the simple concept of bieng a considerate sportsman. .

I’m looking to take my 9 yr old son and his friend out this weekend. Hoping to put them on a few flags.

I’ve never fished here (I hate fishing crowds)…. But figured I’d ask. Do the shallows hold any pike or bass here in the winter? Or am I better off just going over to Waubesa? I could care less about size of fish. Just want to keep some kids busy.

Appreciate any info!
