Lake Wisconsin Special Regulations

Below are special fishing regulations for Lake Wisconsin as regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. For complete fishing regulations for Wisconsin click here.
  • Below the Prairie du Sac Dam, the minimum length limit on walleye is 18" and on sauger or hybrids is 15" with a daily bag limit of 3 in total
  • From the Wisconsin Dells Dam upstream, the minimum length limit on northern pike is 32" and the daily bag limit is 1.
  • Motor trolling is permitted.
  • The daily bag limit for catfish is 10. The season for catfish is open all year except from the Prairie du Sac Dam downstream to the railroad bridge at Sauk City where the open season is May 3 through November 30.
  • The open season includes tributaries upstream to the first highway bridge.
  • Upstream from the Prairie du Sac Dam, the minimum length limit on walleye and sauger is 15", but fish from 20" through 28" may not be kept and only one fish over 28" is allowed.
  • Hook and line fishing is open all year for all fish species except muskellunge, lake sturgeon, trout, paddlefish and threatened or endangered fish.
