Mead Lake

Monday afternoon, 3 til 5, 8 inches of ice, much better ice condition than I expected.
Fished off south boat landing with two others, marking fish, light bites, shortened up plastic....bitsy largemouth bass, 3 1/2 " to 5", one 6" perch.  Not many open holes, glad I brought my hand auger.  Vietnam War Veteran ball cap laying in parking lot, took with, will be at Cliffs Cycle Service between Spencer/Marshfield if it's yours....Vietnam War era vet myself, thank you for your service.  Woody Eckes
 How much longer this ice and fishing will last is any ones' guess.
Be safe out there.  No vehicles on ice like during fishing contest saturday.

Looking at ​visiting relatives over Christmas weekend, ​does this lake freeze over ​more slowly due to current ​than other ​lakes in the area?

Fished off south boat landing today March22, 2023.  18 inches of ice, soft but people still driving cars/trucks out, marked fish 13 feet of water, lot of lookers, very light bite, 7 crappies, 2 gills for my late afternoon excursion.  Beautiful weather, a bit windy, inside shack was easier to see bites.   Palm rod, 2# line, red plastic, copper marmooska and good spring bobber.  Good luck to everyone, stay safe, have fun...one of these days it's going to come to the end.
