I just heard on the scanner a guy went through the ice on the Little Lake.  Fortunately he was able to get out.  Please be extra careful out there!

Partly Sunny 40°
Got out for a little while Sunday evening. Jigging raps produced 6 walleyes for my boy and 2 for me in a little over an hour. Ice has thinned. Wet access and then only 6 inches where there had been 8 a week before.

The thinnest ice on the Yellow River is always at the State Park boat landing. There are springs back in that cove that keep water warmer and flowing. I would NEVER drive a truck off there. ATV only when there is more than a foot everywhere else. And NEVER walk out when it's "foot traffic only" on the rest of Moon Bay.

Full size truck broke through over there a few years back when people were safely driving everywhere else.

State park off of boat ramp.  2 to 3 inches until out about 25 yards, then 4 to 6. I won't be walking out again until conditions improve. Tip of boot broke through in one spot. Fishing was good, limit walleyes, and one northern, finicky fooler rocks.

Cloudy 34°
Ice: 9"
Got out on Wissota with my son Saturday morning. Coaxed enough bites to throw 8 on the ice in about 3 plus hours. Deeper water. Most fish near the bottom. Jigging Tungstens with a waxie.

Ice was variable. 11 inches here and 9 inches there. Slush and water accumulating on surface. We rode wheeler but only one other one out there. Pulling a sled in that slush looked like a pretty good workout for those walking.

Cloudy
Ice: 10"
Finally got out.  Drilled a few holes and all measured about 10 inches of ice.  This was over in the state park/yellow river area.  Managed one slot walleye and a smaller one on 2 of 3 flags.   A few lookers on the jig pole, with one on but lost due to adjusting the drag.

Anyone have a good ice report from today? Seen some 4 wheelers out there so must be getting decent. Thanks in advance

Finally got out on the Small Lake. Measured only 4 inches of ice. There are some areas of slush under thin top ice around the fractures. Action was slow, and tended to the small size. Kept a handful that barely made my minimum, but glad to get a start.

Always wanted to try for winter cats. I heard they don't move much at all, have to get right on top of them. Lethargic in winter
