I loved this lake! Went up there and stayed for a week. First night I caught a huge bass off the dock of the house we were staying in. Caught about 5 or more Northerns myself, and over 300 of the pan fish like sunfish, bluegill and what not. Also caught like 3 or 4 bull heads, one of them I caught was pretty big, I will post a picture of it later. Will post my picture of my bass.

Fishing was good back in 96 and 97 on mallard lake. But since then the resort has changed hands and has overpriced cabin rentals and too many trailers on the premises. No fishing docks are available for the fisherman. Cabin rentals are more than double what they were in 1997.

This lake used to be one of the clearest lakes in northwest Wisconsin. It is now a mecca for jet skis and speedboats. There have even been cabin cruisers on this lake which is barely over 100 acres. Will the DNR ever step in to stop the kind of abuse that motorized traffic causes on small lakes? You can always catch fish on Mallard Lake. The sunnies and crappies are medium sized. There is an abundance of small northerns and bass are common. I release all bass I catch on Mallard and I would hope everyone would do the same.
