Just fished this lake system (Upper and Lower) in mid September and didn't run into the weed problem talked about by others... maybe they have done something to control the weeds. Had a lot of luck on the north east part of Lower Clam lake (the northern lake) starting at the mouth of the river and trolling the grass at the river shoreline. Picked up many northerns from 12-32 inches and a single smallmouth. Also had luck with some Walleyes jigging the rocks at the bridge between the upper and lower lake. The south end of Upper clam lake has many isolated grass clumps mixed with various underwater vegetation and lilly pads which produced some largemouth along with some more northerns. Plenty of brown bullheads at night as well. I had a great time on these lakes... caught a fair share of fish... not much action in the main bodies of the lakes though... everything was off the shore lines, isolated vegetation, bridges, and rivers for me.

The fish are there, but the lake is so incredibly weedy, that the overall experience is most undesireable. The weedcutters, jet ski's and boaters churn up so many of the weeds, that the top-water is thick with them much of the time. Great ice fishing lake!

THE LAKE IS AWFUL WEEDY, BUT I'VE CAUGHT AND RELEASED LOTS OF NORTHERN, BASS AND BLUEGILL. MY NEIGHBORS ENJOY CRAPPIE FISHING. THE FISH ARE HERE AND IF YOU'RE INTO FISHING, YOU CAN STAY BUSY.
