My husband and I and our kids have been going to Big McKenzie Lake since 1977, first with my parents then later by ourselves. Now we take along my daugher and her husband and their three kids. It's a clean, clear lake with a lot of structure to fish off of. Granted, we did catch more walleye and a few muskie in the earlier years than we do now but we still have a lot of fun. We'd like to see more walleye and muskie in this lake and think DNR has "forgotten" Big McKenzie Lake. Too many large mouth bass in this lake! We've stay at the same resort every year and we really enjoy it, even if the fishing happens to be "off" that year. We hope to move to this lake eventually and fish whenever we want. We love Spooner, WI and this lake.

There are no fish in this lake. Don't waste your time. The water is too clear and the fish spook easily.
