Let's just start by saying ice thickness definitely varies in thickness.  Had 12" in then 7" in other  locations. Definitely not consistent.  Be smart. On the other hand. Fished yesterday  1/21 from noon till dark. Roamed around searching for fish. Then I found em. Jig and plastic is all I used.Did well. Had the camera down. It was an amazing time. 11' of water.  Large schools of every species of fish in the lake swimming together.  Not what I was expecting to see.  The big perch were from devils lake first week in January.  The big one there is 15" 2lbs 2oz.

Can i ask how much snow is on the ice up there.  Thinking about coming up next week and wondering how conditions are.  Might bring the wheeler just in case ice is to that point but other wise would plan accordingly for foot traffic.  Thanks in advance.  If you want to update on ice conditions as well i would take those as well.  Thinking of fishing off main beach in chetek right now.  Walking out from where water ski show performs.

Ice: 5"
Fished upper Prairie Lake this weekend. Ice was 5 inches but there was visible open water Thursday afternoon in front of Wolf’s Den and south towards Marine Corps Island. Weird conditions so stayed fairly close to shore. Ice was consistently five inches where we were though. The open water froze across on Friday.

Slow action but caught a few nice perch and a 32” pike.

Hows the fishing? Any idea on ice depth? This used to be a very active thread, did everyone move to a different website?  Tight lines.
