Just looking for some navigation pointers, would like to give it a try. I have fished the river system further north but never in Sauk. Thanks in advance!!

This is a little late but this is a video of me ice fishing a small Wisconsin River backwater. We did pretty well on crappies and walleyes! Let me know what you think!

MOON PHASE (59%)
Waning Gibbous

Fished 8-noon today with my grandson.  No gates open with calm water this morning but wind picked up around noon to make water a little rough.  Caught 7 walleye, one keeper between us.  So we found the walleye fishing to be a little slow.  Thought other boats we saw were having about the same action.  Also caught two paddlefish and 3 sturgeon.  Biggest was a paddlefish that must have weighed 50 pounds.  All fish still swimming.   Wardens were out checking for valid licenses and asked to inspect our live well.   In sum, just a great day on the water.

There were 3 or 4 gates open Wednesday evening. The pier was never taken out this year.

If its at 13kcfs you should be fine.  I was there last fall it was at 15kcfs,it was rough close to the dam ,but was fishable a little ways back.

I wonder how soon the pier will be in.

Crestliner, I would check the flow rates and forecasts, links are just below. Rat provided a good description of the flow rates too.

With river currently around 13kcfs waves toward the edge of the spill basin average about .5ft, but they die out quickly after that.  Of course if you're trying to fish the middle of the basin then you will still get some bigger waves, but nothing like 20kcfs +
