I have never fished here, but would like to in the next few weeks. I do not have a boat, and looking for any suggestions of shore fishing locations. Primarily would like to fish for walleye and sauger but catching any fish is better than getting skunked! Any information would be greatly appreciated, please send me a message. Thank you in advance for any help, and as always tight lines!

I would just launch your kayak from the old VFW launch, stick to the right side of the river, and the current won’t be terrible.

Thanks for the info Jay. Hopefully the weather is better when I decide to make the trip out there in a week or 2

The current isn’t that bad at all right now. Just carry your boat down about 100 yards from the dam, the fast current has dissipated by then

Sorry this is not a report. I'm looking to fish up by the dam from a kayak in the next week or 2 and was wondering where the closest place would be to launch from so I'm not having to deal with the strong current from the power house discharge. Thanks in advance for any info provided.

MOON PHASE
Full Moon

AIR TEMP
36° - 40° F

Did some night shore fishing by the dam for the first time. Got my first two Wisconsin river walleyes and missed a lot more. Very subtle bite overall.

MOON PHASE (90%)
Waxing Gibbous

WATER TEMP
Below 40° F

Got up there today, a few keepers but mostly shorts. Probably caught around 30 fish total. Lots of boats anchored up there, not very many reports. It’ll be another week or two I think before we go again! We did catch a few saugers that had eggs still in them, but most were males that we caught. Water temps were around 38-39° on my units.

There is no closed season for walleye/sauger above or below the dam. Catfish season is however closed. I think you are right about the limits and sizes. If you have a wader, you might wanna bring it. Good luck and hope to see your reports!
