Yes, bite is not bad when you can get out. Minnow bite. Not many boats out.

I have been out twice in the last week for perch. West side deep water 14ft or deeper. I have caught 27 in the last two time out but most have come off of hellgrammites. Probably 20 of the 27 came from hellgies. Good luck and post and let me know if this helped. Wink

put a bullet sinker on your line and then tie on a barrel swivel.below the swivel tie on 10-12 inches of line and then the hook.keep the hook as close to the bottom by using your slip bobber knot on the surface after finding bottom. works well for me

Ended up picking up 5 nice sized perch yesterday on deadsticks while also jigging for walleye. Slip-sinker, fluoro leader, red hook, half crawlers. Also picked up a small bass. Seemed to do slightly better on the rod using a bright yellow sinker. Maybe that drew them into the general area? Was in about 6ft of water.

Question - Are there any tricks to using a deadstick when there's 1ft+ waves? The tip of my rod kept bending as it lifted the sinker off bottom, making it harder to detect true bites.

Thanks!
