I dont want anyone getting harmed. If you were at the launch this morning then you would have saw the open water. Im sure there is 11" of ice somewhere but i dont think its safe to access the lake from the public boat launch. Thats all im saying. Risk it if you want

Hey take em!! Is it possible you just don't want people fishing on this Lake because it seems to me that if somebody was just out there a day before you posted or two days before you posted and said there's 10 to 14 inches I know darn well I ice fish a lot and I've been out on lakes this weekend and there's still 10 11 12 inches on every like I've been on so don't put out fake reports because you're upset somebody's fishing Where you don't like them fishing. You're just an idiot.
Ice report from Jay at Finn's
Went out this afternoon and cut some holes. First stop Waubusee Channel.
Went about 4 houses south of the launch and in the middle and had about 14-15"
Next stop Long Lake. Got a friend about mid lake on the east side. Walked halfway across the lake from there and had 11" of clear ice and 1" of junk ice.
Wind Lake public launch.
Walked about 300yds from boat ramp slightly towards the north and measured a little more than 10" of real ice with 1" of junk ice.
Drove up to sportsman's, walked about 2/3 of the way to the shanty north of grass island. Measured the same 10" of real ice with 1" of junk ice.
Weather forecast has been a little on the high side each day. Was supposed to be 40's today and best I saw on truck thermometer was 34. Think so far this week the forecast has been warmer that what reality has given us. Sat and Sun were supposed to be 54 and 56 but now they are back to mid 40's so as long as the wind behaves we should survive. Takes a lot more than a few days of barely above freezing(33-36) and slightly below freezing(30-32) at night to get rid of a foot of ice.
All shorelines were solid wherever I was so no planks or boards needed yet. Yes, there is standing water in places so don't go out in tennis shoes or you'll get wet feet.

Hit Waubee today from about 8AM until 1 PM. Water temp on lake was 73 and in channel upper 60's. I kept 9 gills that ranged in size from 7 to 9 inches. If I fished anywhere close to the weeds all I got was small gills. I had to be off the weeds in about 20 feet of water, fishing down about 6 feet in order to get the bigger fish. As usual I was trying for crappies but no go on them. The gills were very nice for this time of year and considering the water temps still being rather warm I was happy. Don't know where the crappies go but that's part of the fun in fishing for me anyway--is trying to find and figure out things. As usual, I only used plastics and with the strong wind that was blowing you had to rip the jig and tail thru the water. The hit would come right after you let it pause.

Went out today from 9 until 3. Caught some really nice 8-9 inch gills and 4 bonus crappies. Alot of large mouth also on our ice fishing jigs. We kept 24 pan fish between the two of us. Find the weeds find the fish. All in 10-15 fow. Good day out for some old farts !!!!
