My partner and I conducted a science experiment to see which type of lure will catch the most fish. We tested our hypothesis at Waldo Mill Pond. Our hypothesis was “If live bait is used then more fish will be caught because live bait can be found in their natural habitat”. Even though our hypothesis was accepted, we only collected data three days. Out of the three days we only caught two fish on nightcrawlers. We consider our test inconclusive due to the small number of days tested and fish caught. (We released both fish caught)

browninghunter, I'd take the short drive to cascade and hit Lake Ellen, you can usually get a few bluegils out of there or hit random lake for some perch. The ice on the pond is always 'dirty' and dulls auger blades fast. I've pulled a few northerns out during the open water season, but, targeting them through the ice isn't worth the time. If you really want to try, you'll need to follow the south bank to the break in the trees on the shore... right before the long grass starts. That's been the best spot for me. The ice is fishable now, just keep in mind that there is a river flowing in the middle area making for unsafe ice. If you aren't familiar with the pond, you may want to wait for more ice.

Good luck!

We shot about 150 carp so far this year. All the carp are small because there are so many of them. We have been seeing a lot of northerns so if your looking to catch a few northern it's defenitely worth trying here.
