I moved to Tomah a few years ago and got back into fishing. No boat so I fish fr shore.  Lots of good panfish year round. Especially the spring time. Check out the bay at Winnebago park. Good amounts of bass and northern too. Crappies are in deeper water now I think since I can't find many now from shore. Hope you have some good luck.

Took a trip to La Crosse over the weekend to visit my son who goes to college there.  Since he is staying year round we decided to explore some shore fishing locales near him and this was one.  Enjoyed fishing from shore at Lake (Butts) Park.  Nothing super big, but he caught a keeper size Black Crappie and Perch and I caught a keeper White Crappie along with numerous smaller gills and perch.  Would love to get a boat out there and explore the lake.  Interesting no one has posted on this lake for over two years??

It is good for a college kid to have some fishing spots.

Does anyone know why many of the houses on the north end of the lake do not have docks in the water this year? I thought pretty much all houses had docks previously? Are they doing some shoreline restoration or something like that?

Did some fishing at Winnebago park. Really windy, and sprinkled off and on.Caught a few largemouth on Texas-rigged soft plastics. None keepers for the lake but pretty big none the less. Switched to a crank bait and buzz bait and struck out.

Went out on Lake Tomah for the 2014 fishing opener. With the recent low pressure system in our area the water temperature dropped from around 52 degrees to about 46 degrees. With this fishing was slow as you can imagine. We went out at 6:00 am and stayed til 1. Only one bite which was caught by my dad, a relatively skinng 24 inch northern on a light blue rapala jerkbait about 3-4 fow. Anxious to get back out as the water temperature slowly rises! Tight lines!

You can't legally target gamefish on Lake Tomah right now.
