MOON PHASE (99%)
Waning Gibbous
Fished last Saturday and Sunday. Limited out on Saturday in about 28 feet of water. Walking out there without spikes was a challenge so we didn't go all the way out to the edge where everyone was, but it didn't seem to matter. Caught majority on the slider hook, but also got quite a few on a white jigging rap. Here's a pretty sweet video I put together with some of the highlights of our trip. Also as you'll see towards of the end of the video, I hooked into something HUGE... Definitely not a whitefish, but it didn't have the head shakes that I would expect from a big walleye? Hook popped out after about 30 seconds of it screaming drag. Any Ideas of what it could have been? Brown Trout maybe? Let me know if you have any guesses, and enjoy the video!

MOON PHASE (99%)
Waxing Gibbous

CONDITIONS
Cloudy

ICE DEPTH
15 inches

AIR TEMP
31° - 35° F
Fished from 7:30 till 1:30 limited out in about 2 hours went on to catch and release another 10 whitefish. Ice conditions were great, no water on top to speak of cooler temps firmed up the ice nicely no slush issues and very easy to pull the sled. Fish were active caught on a variety of lures jigging raps, buckshot rattle spoons, Swedish pimples, pounded the bottom with the lures then jigged up to about 8" off the bottom when I brought one off the bottom held the jig there and slowly jigged and occasionally stopping. Fished in 27'FOW straight out. Don"t forget to wear ice grips on your boats. may have to take a day off this week to give it another try

MOON PHASE (96%)
Waxing Gibbous

CONDITIONS
Partly Sunny

ICE DEPTH
11 inches

AIR TEMP
36° - 40° F
The water from the previous day had trickled through the ice. We did hit a couple of pools on Friday where it was 6"s deep so hmmm. Had gusts on Friday I'd estimate at 35mph. Son had off so took him and he was throwing shovels on water into the air an it would land 15yards down range. Kids!

Ice is in good shape today, majority of water was gone. We fished on the 35' breakline and did pretty good and had our limit of whities by noon.

Talked to friends who tried deeper but didn't work out.

Dropped my eye glasses down the hole and kid asked me later why I wasn't furious. Told him being out there w/ him on his b-day made everything else irrelevant.

Good luck and have fun!

Ice was fine up by boni pt today but as I was leaving, the top of the ice was covered with about 3 inches of water on it. It was nerve wrecking riding back with the atv. Drop by volks landing and it looked the same. Unless the temps drop below freezing. It will be very sloppy out there. Good luck and be safe!

Went to Sugar Creek t0day and no cracks, very rough and cold going out from the 2 fisherman they were fishing in 35+ feet of water with little to show for. They went straight off where everyone was because that's where they thought the fish were. Had another customer that came in and limited out in 10' of water north of Sugar Creek and he was back in less than 3 hours. Our friend Bob came up from south of Chaudiors Dock on a snowmobile and had to dodge shoves but cruised right along on a snowmobile. Fished in 27 feet of water southwest of sugar Creek and got only 6 fish in 4 hours on Monday went back on Tuesday and got his limit in 3 hours. Have to remember the ice is never safe and use your own judgement, and wouldn't be driving your vehicle out of Chaudiors Dock or Sugar Creek.

The crack is about 30-40 yards out. It's very easy to see since it crosses the whole shore. Because of the cold front, I hope it froze over, but haven't been up there yet.

Thanks Cha. How far off shore is the crack you are referring to? I know there were reports of several cracks here. Sent you a pm but not sure if your messenger is on.

I don't believe it will ever be safe to drive out this year on Sugar Creek. The last time I was out was last Saturday and the ice was only 10-11 inches thick. which is still a no-no for me. I need 1 ft and 6 in or higher to feel comfortable to get my truck onto the ice. I suggest walking or using an ATV/Snow Mobile at the most. Fishing was well on Saturday, got my limit in 1 hour. Very active fish, but this week will be a great change because my cousins went on Monday and barely got 10 in 5 hours. Just be careful and make wise decisions. Also there is still that 12 inch crack that were already a problem for most ATV users.
