Set up in 24ft at 8am. Typical slider rig with minnow on bottom and waxies on slider. All they wanted today was minnow heads. Probably had a dozen bites landing 6 from 8-11am. Kept 3 Whitefish all about 19 inches. I crossed one small crack but set up near the 2nd crack. Saw some people driving out to the reef but I’m not that brave. Marked quite a few fish but coaxing the bite was the tough part. Only one fish came on the slide hook.

My son and i went out to 2 mile today, but out of Rites Cove. 1st 1/2 mile of ice is a land mine, but solid. Get out past that and it smoothed out. 2 old pressure cracks on way out, but se got through ok. We got 8 big whites, and a bonus walleye. Seem to shut down after 1 pm. Only 1 hard shack out there now. There were 3 other groups out there as well, but that was all. Was a little spooky when it was just my son and i after they left.

Conditions were great heading out but a large cracked opened this morning before we left, unfortunately someone found it with a truck trying to get back off. I would use extreme caution as another guy told us about it when he dropped his atv tires in. A couple whitefish wasn’t worth the fear of being stranded with the crazy wind this morning. The crack was 6” in the spot we crossed to get back and much larger in lots of spots by 11:30. We used a 4 wheeler and snowmobile for travel.
Reports of ice conditions have been hard to get. Is anyone willing to share with me whether or not the ice is good enough to get out to 30' here??? I know it was rough going, but I'm curious if the cracks have made it impassable. I am great full for any type of condition report for Sugar Creek.

Thanks for response! Agreed travel was very difficult. Fishing was good once we got out to our spot but took us at least an hour to find a safe route. Be careful!
