Anyone willing to share info on sturgeon fishing in the Hudson area? I’ve done my homework on parking, access, maps ect. What I can’t find are actual fishing reports. PM me is you’d rather. I can trade info on petenwell lake as well.

Wife and I went out on Friday and found 7" of solid clear ice.  By Monday, there was 14" and vehicles driving all over the place.  Caught a couple 11" crappies, a 14" striper and an 18" walleye just off the North Hudson Landing.  We tried all different depths.  River is about 35 deep in this area.  The ice seems safe to drive on, but there are always the idiots that feel they have to drive fast between shacks.  Stay on the paths please.  Good luck.

This "river" we speak of is more like a bay and is quite safe; however, there is no such thing as completely safe ice. Most of the folks here are locals and are well versed on this body of water. For those who are willing to wander off the beaten path, good luck.

I just want to say anyone that drives on a river is crazy!  I have fallen thru the Mississippi River in February where tons of people had been walking for months!  Rivers have current and far reaching whirle pools that can open up the ice hundreds of yards away fro the main current.  Please walk-in and wear a Life Jacket.

Trolled north of Hudson for a while today, flickers. Worked 8-20 ft. on just  few passes. Also tried jigging a little on structure. Nada. Marked a lot of fish 15-25 or so.

Saw a few guys getting sauger, looked like minnow jigging.

Any reports out there?

I hope to get out and do some trolling.  I think I might try some musky trolling as well.  I'll report back.

Trolled a little this morning north of Hudson. No eyes but northern, cat, and crappies on sticks. Saw guys catching crappies and sunnies anchored on structure. I jigged a little on a rock/log pile and the crappies and sunnies are active. Some nice sized. Did not keep fish today. But jig/crawler was almost a fish per cast.

Late report from Wed. morning. Went south from Hudson exploring. Dragged crawlers on structure a little. Got an eye and  one sauger and couple sheep. Even got a couple sunnies in 20 ft. dragging crawlers. Worked some weed beds and lots of small to medium sunnies and perch. There is a ton of bait around from top to bottom. Even snagged a couple of 1 inch shad pulling crawlers deep. Big schools on the surface too, which will make for a tough walleye bite. Marked lots of fish all over.

Was off of ferry landing, few other shacks out there. Fished 40ft drop-off, a few marked fish, but no biters. Fished 5 to 7 and decided to come back in the daylight to see how it goes. 11 inches of ice, and guy dropped off permanent shack with pickup  to go out in morning I'm guessing.
