Welcome to the area SPSALMON. I've tried Squaw a couple of times a year for the last couple years and it hasn't been good. It had a bad winter kill a few years ago and has been restocked but the fish haven't grown up yet. Give it a couple more years.

Anyone still fishing on Squaw Lake?  Just moved into the area and wondering how the fishing has been?

This lake use to produce the best bass population on the western side of the state. The water used to be high enough to fill all the bays including a very large area on the South end.. now not a thing for water. Huge decline in fish population. I can only use common sense and say that with the huge numbers of houses that went up in the early 2000's, it had a direct impact on the water table. I remember going there for 3 hours and two of us caught 30 bass each-15-17"... all released by the way. that was on top water when the moss rimmed the entire lake by about 2 ft from shore. That IS one place I can say, "back in the good ol' days". Bring my 12 and 10 year old there the past 8 years and I'm always sad when I leave.... Puke

I fished this late this past winter. I fished the deepest spots on the old lake map. Where the water was supposed to be over 20' I was getting 10 or less on my vexilar! Not a biologist but a lake that shallow would really suffer with the winter we had I would guess.

I'd be very interested in the status of this lake. This lake is not the lake it was back in the 90's that's for sure.

Keep us posted.

Dave

Was out yesterday evening. Tried all my spots and presentations that have worked there in the past at this time of the year. NOTHING! Not a nibble.

Looked for the deepest part of the lake I could find. Seemed like 15 feet was the deepest? Had one follow on the Vexilar early but didn't mark one, or see one on the camera, the rest of the day.
