I fish spring lake usually once per winter I think it tends to be later to freeze/quicker to melt than other areas, I may be wrong but in years past that is what it seems like to me.

Is there no ice on Spring Lake? Thought about maybe going there Saturday?

First time on this Mississippi backwater today. Plenty of good ice. People driving trucks up and down the slough next to shore. Not even an ATV on the over the berm side but lots of fishermen on and all around the deep water. Suspended crappies and some perch on the bottom. A few very nice ones. Saw some better northerns caught on tipups and tipdowns nearby.

Kinda wonder what happens here when the river rises? Things might get sketchy in a hurry?

Yes you can gamefish. Was there on the 7th. Fish were there but they wouldn't bite anything watched them with the camera. Seen some really nice fish though.

Curious about ice conditions as well. Are folks still venturing out over the berm to the Culvert?

Fished spring lake yesterday and did well. Came home with a dozen decent crappies and a couple decent perch. One crappie measured 14 inches and the largest perch was 13 inches. This was first time I've fished this lake.....well worth the drive. FYI don't forget your cleats!!
