Will be headed up in a couple weekends to visit some family for the weekend. Can anyone give me some pointers for the lake for panfish/and or walleye? Never fished it before and will probably only have a morning or two at most. PM me if you would like. Thanks!

Attended the ice fishing rumble at roll in point Saturday. Thought I would give a report. First off the Nordland's run a real nice tournament. There were 88 people entered, and some nice pan fish were caught. Game fish not so good, to the best of my memory[ after 10 hours on the ice> these are the numbers.

Perch 11 1/2" Bluegill 9 1/4" Crappie 12" Walleye 19" Pike 24". There seemed to bee a consistent 6-7" of ice, and there were many atv's and snowmobiles out. There are two more rumbles coming up. Feb 6th and March 5th. I would recommend it. Smile

I was out there the last couple days and I would guess about 5" or so of ice. One snowmobile out. Very little snow and easy walking. I would think by this weekend there will be ATV's all over the ice but check before you go of course. Fishing wasn't the greatest. A couple small crappies, gills, and perch. Didn't try tip ups. There has been a couple ATV's on the chain in certain areas. Areas with any current are still extremely unsafe.

Plan on coming up for the rumble at Roll in Point on Saturday. Any ice and snow reports? Any ATV's on the ice or should I leave it at home? Thanks Smile

Hey Fellas, sorry I haven't updated you guys on my success of Solberg lately...

Fall is finally here and that means Pike and Muskie are loading up for the winter baby!!! WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Hitting up the north side of the lake, right below the culvert where Squaw Creek dumps into Solberg.

Bobber drift'n suckers has been a killer, 35" and 30" Muskies caught on that rig. While drifting the bobber set up, we were casting Soft Tail Phantom's in a perch pattern and a Hellhound, 7" also in perch color. Casting didn't bring up any Muskie, but we sure were nail'n Pike on those baby's!!!

Good Luck fellas!! Stay safe, and always practice catch and release!!! Until next time!!

Spent 3 days on the lake. Figured the fish out after a day. Morn and eve were best. Caught a mix of everything but crappies and gills mostly. Drifting produced and casting shoreline structure. Plastics and gulp worked better than live bait. Had no problem marking panfish with my Lorance. North channel was dead but thanks for the tip lakestate08. Stopped at elk river rod shop and was very impressed with there service and store. Hope to be back soon!

No problem A-ron. I'm always glad to help out a fellow angler who needs a little 'pick me up' after a long dry spell.

As far as panfish go, hook-line-sinker baby!!!!!!!! Go 'ol go to, that never let's you down. Hummingbird locators work great for panfish. Find gills all the time. I know Lowrance has a hard time with panfish locating. Something to do with a pricey software update...

Sledza, toss'n some dang 'ol Bucktails in the northern channels always is a killer. If you can throw them up around the piers, I guarantee fish.

Be careful out there Fellas, some joker in a grey Ranger with a Yamaha outboard almost ran me over while drifting last night. Why do you need to fly that fast on a peaceful lake with a beautiful sunset on the horizon? I don't get it.

Anyway, stay safe out there Fellas! Catch and release!!!

Gentlemen, Was up the last week did okay but not as in years past. Found some bass on top water and walleye casting cranks but nothing spectacular. I agree that the lake isn't producing as much as years past, especially panfish, I wonder what is going on? I wish I had a particular pattern but cant report one. It seems as though Lake state08 has really found the pattern maybe he could shed some more light? I agree with Mattman we should all turn on our PM and talk maybe we could figure something out. Not going back up until the third week in July keep me posted on how you all do.

A-ron
