I fished this lake in the early to late 70's and it was awesome for Crappie, Bass & Pike. We vacationed in Phillips and always went to Sailor Lake. We stopped going in the mid 80's due to the kids getting older not wanting to go north anymore. I did return in the 90's and found that the lake was pretty dead, at least for me it was. I also found that Sailor Creek Flowage where it dumps into was a dead sea. Locals say the new launch did that flowage in but I am not sure what the reason s were. I did stop this summer and spoke with a few locals who reside in the area with them all telling my that it would be a total waste of time to fish either the lake or flowage.

Its amazing how a lot of these good fishing areas are now gone except the water in them.

Has anyone fished this lake recently.? It's been 10 yrs since I have. Was decent for northern back then. I did see they closed the park by the boat landing. Thanks

It's been about 2 years since I've fished here.

I'm planning to give it another go in the next few trips I make up there.

Fished here recently, nothing but small bluegills with spots, looked buggy, lake is definetly in downturn, not worth the price to pay at landing to the feds.

I was out there the closer of tip up season. Caught a few gills while tip up fishing for northern. But a guy fishing a bit further out was catching some nice crappie. Hope that helps. Maybe try Musser Lake for gills. Caught a ton of gills every trip out there this winter.
