Went out Christmas morning and did ok considering the cold front. Caught some decent perch, small bluegills, and one little snake northern. Perch were coming in about 6-8 inches off bottom in about 6 feet of water. Bite was on and off from 7am until 1pm. The vexilar would light up, we would catch some, then they would move on for a bit and then come back the entire time we were there. Definitely worth the trip in my opinion. We only kept 6 perch, but between 2 guys we probably landed over 30. They really were liking colored spikes over wax worms by far, say “hey” to James at Fat Cat if you go. Good luck!

Any updates? I was up this weekend and fished Long lake. Saw people on Round but wanhted to try Long this time. Coming back up next week and wondering if the perch are still biting. Fished Round on New Years with few bits, and those few bits were big perch and gills. Looking for more action to keep the kids happy for a few hours.

I was on Round yesterday for about 3 hrs, until dark.Quite a few out there, fishing seemed a little slow.Preferred color for me was glow body jig with green/orange plastic tail.Ice thickness was fairly uniform, but landing was under water with 3" or so water. Will get worse as the river goes up.
Ended up with 12 nice perch and one northern(released).Fished the deeper water for the perch(7')and lots of sorting.
Read the signs as you drive into the lakes area. The pigs will ruin it for all.I had license numbers from suspected slobs, does no good unless there is video proof. Also no need to drive on these lakes,it is not that far to walk anywhere. My guess is that the idiots trashed the place last winter. There was a bunch of cig butts and crap left on Round the other day.I seen a guy last winter throw some propane cylinders into the woods.Locked gate on access road sounds good, right?
