As the water continues to drop then, fish will move upstream more. You'd be surprised what steelhead and the more fresh fish can get thru though. Good luck fishing!
Root River, Racine County
As of today, several gates were completely unobstructed. However, the main current was coming through the obstructed ones.
Observing the river, which was quite clear, I did not see any fish below the weir in the shallows, and all the shallows were visible. They are not stacked and blocked. They are simply either trickling or not advancing at this moment at all.
They typically take out some of the stop logs when they are done processing fish for the season, but I think flows were a bit too high still for them to safely remove them. They will probably remove them soon to allow fish passage past the facility again.
One off, if fish manages to jump over or there is actual pessage for fish to get through? tanks being empty , no fish go up the inlet to be placed back into exit pipe coming out passed facility. i like the question and response, i would appreciate if one could shed more light. this whole salmon run phenomenon is cool as it is , just curiuos how the fish actually manages to move up around facility .
Heading out to scratch the itch. Hopefully be a little more than watching fish swim by today which has been the case the last few times. Had a couple on but haven’t sealed the deal so I guess I at least need some more practice. What’s the water looking like with this latest rain?
