Go buy a spud bar and use it to check the ice as you go many times the ice is plenty safe to fish but instead you people sit on the couch and troll the internet. In most cases you are your best judge. Get out there and good luck

Well @Scott Pops the ice is very thin smart one. It has been very nice out the last couple days. Maybe if you drive out there you can check it. Let us know how it is. PS Dont fall in.

MOON PHASE (99%)
Waning Gibbous

Just throwing in an observation on your posts about the schools of fish you are showing. A few years back while fishing Potters I had the same thing happen. I put on the smallest jigging Rapala (1in) in glow and added a wax worm on the treble. I ended up catching a limit of Crappies in under an hour. These fish would look at the small jigs an move on just as you described. But they would continually hit that waxwork on the treble without any issue. Give it a try- what do you have to lose? Let me know what happens.

Lots of small perch and gill. Are there any bigger gills/perch in this lake? Have been out 2 days and probably caught over 75 small gills and perch. 1 northern.

Ice was around 8 inches at 20ft deep. Marked a heck of a lot of fish but were only lookers except a dink perch. I'm not sure what species I was marking but I used a small tungsten jig with spikes or a jigging spoon with a minnow head on it but couldn't get anything to bite if my life depended on it. Not sure if it was a school of crappie or a school of gills but none were biting.

I'm going to take a complete guess and say about 10 inches know that this lake freezes quick and it's max depth is only 25 foot but augers and spud bars work very well

Has anyone been out on Potter?  Wondering what the ice looks like.  Especially after the weather.

Astelloh:

This lake doesn't have a large population of bass in it anymore. There are some Quality fish in here though. A five pounder is not out of the question anytime you're on Potters. The downside unfortunately over the past couple years is that the lake has been treated for milfoil. When this happens it always affects the fishery. Like a lot of our other area lakes it has seen a decline in the fishing with the killing of the good weeds.

AStelloh:  Try the north shore of Ashippun  Lake.  Early.  Before the power boaters come out.  Straight across from the boat launch.
