Does anyone know how thick the ice is and how the fishing is going? I'm thinking about coming out here soon with a truck. Any info would be great! Thanks.

Walked out about 10 yards on the ice from landing. Had a little over an inch. Drove by Twin, and there was a portable shack out about 35 yards from shore. Unsure of depth on Twin. Did not get out to check.

Fin-adict. We were out yesterday and talk to some guys on the west side. Said was about 18 inches there. we drove truck out to east side along north side of lake. Hard traveling. there was 14 inches where we were at. caught few small northerns. Seemed our best luck was in 25 feet. Hope this helps ya and good luck. Someone needs to catch some. Its been very slow for us.

Fished the east side of the long point in 15-20 FOW caught one 14" and a few smaller LMB early on. Once that side of the lake became too busy(waterski/jetski)I switched to the west side of the long point and caught a few more LMB, two of 14". Once annoyed(more jetski, etc), I went to fish Twin in hopes of some peace and quiet.

I drove the perimeter of the west end (north side) of Pine Lake on 1/17/13 with a Subaru Outback (about 3400 lb car) staying about a car length within the shore area. Little to no snow (1 inch) so was easy to follow the perimeter. Gaping hole about 200 yards out from ramp where a Jeep went for a dip recently (I was told by others). There was open water near a spring or a shore aeration set up about 250 yards north and east of the boat ramp, less than 60 feet from shore.

There was at least 2 ATVs on the water and a snowmobile on the ice when I was there, but this was just prior to (2) 40F+ days, so not sure how it degraded after that. At least the dusting of snow from Friday morning will help hold the ice in such instances.

Ice was 7 - 9 inches, but this lake has springs and is a real danger to just drive across any open water on.

I would never drive more than a car length from shore on any ice not consistently 15 - 18 inches, too much risk of some serious expense.

Be safe, and use good judgement always. If you aren't sure, walk, its great exercise.

How much ice is there now after this cold weather. Safe for a snowmobile?
