Took the kids out to show them a good time after the fisheree Saturday and hopefully a few fish but didn't have a whole lotta luck.  We gave up on the fishing and decided to stretch the legs on the new boat.  Then our luck changed the cop on the lake stopped us for not having the stickers on the boat.  He confimed our application for the registration but then he gave us some good hints as to where to find some fish for the kids and gave the kids (and us) a quick course on safety. He also let us know that it could take some time to get our stickers from the state as he had run into people that had registered last year but still have not got their stickers.  So I am putting that out there for those who are still waiting for their stickers.  You aren't the only ones. So keep your registration or sales slip handy and keep on the state was his advice.  But the best part of the day was we got to boat a few gills and my boy even tore into a pike in the south bay by the park. Glad we ran into him or him to us because my kids got to have a great day on the lake and I got some good stuff to pass on.

Caught lots of gills, most were small but did manage to get some 8's & 9's. Did walleyes later from 8pm to midnight, got 2 walleyes but were small(11-13"). Now I was catching some nice eyes in the 16-22", the weird thing is, is that when the weather was stable for 3-4 days hard to catch them but when it was up & down with temps, rain, & wind I did much better, can't explain.  Crappies are nowhere to be found so I stay with gills during the day & walleyes at night or real early in the morning(4-6am). Well tight lines everyone & welcome those carp shooters just watch where your going, with 4 people in the boat & almost run into me, someone should be watching where they're going. I think D.N.R. should think about lowering length size on Northern Pike, so many small ones in the 12" to 20", it really gets annoying!

There is no public launch at the state park.

There are 2 public launches on the west shore, without parking.

But there are 2 private launches with parking, Johnies landing on the southwest side and the Reefpoint on the northwest side.

Waning Gibbous

WGS, I was out last week and the carp were everywhere. Usually in pods of three or four. Water is super clear and most activity was in the 6 to 8 foot range. Easily some thirty pounders in that lake and every year there seems to be more and more.

Was out June 1st from 5pm-1am, caught some Northern Pike which I don't care to catch & were all from 18"-23"(y don't they lower the limit on Pike)? Anyhow I caught 2 eyes at 7pm but were too small, 1 at 13" & the other at maybe 12" cute but glad they're reproducing. Caught some small lgmouth bass, rock bass, then at 12am to 1am I caught 1 at 19in & the other at 23in, both males. I can't tell u what I was using or what depth but I can tell u this, u better have a headnet on or u will be eating more bugs than the bats! Water temp was at 66 degrees on Thursday night & bluegills will spawn between 68-80 degrees so select only a few for dinner & throw some bigger ones back. Tight lines everyone & watch out for the crazies in ski boats & jet skis, have fun.

MOON PHASE (7%)
Waxing Crescent

CONDITIONS
Partly Sunny

AIR TEMP
46° - 50° F

WATER TEMP
51° - 55° F

The crappies were staging last week when temps were at 56 degrees, the water dropped to 54.4 this Fri., were at 56 degrees on North side of lake but after that rain & now cold front they moved back out. I caught several northerns on last Monday, mostly small but caught one at 28 inches but threw back cause season not open yet. Caught 1 crappie at about 10 & a half inches on Monday but then they moved & wouldn't bite anymore so I threw it back in. This damn weather is not helping, I'm sure the ducks like it, anyway tight lines everyone & hopefully this weather turns soon.

Went out Wed the 29th from 7:30am to 11:30am, basically went to run boat(which ran good), check water temps which were from 41- 45 degrees, & check on weed populations. The weeds were on deep drop-offs 8-12' but nothing shallow(weed free), had a cpl of hits with small jigheads but caught no fish. Just nice to get out on open water again, I know from last yr that I have haters but that's ok if ppl don't believe on what I'm catching & what size they are, I'm not an expert fisherman but I do very well out there & have proved that to some ppl. Anyhow fishing for walleye should be great this yr, along with panfish, good luck ppl & tight lines. I will be posting from time to time, see you all out there!
