Yeah that northern was big, but why not release it. I was there that night it was packed down there with people every where, but hardly any fish being caught. It has all around been fairly slow down there since the recent high water. Some people would probaly catch more fish if they would actually fish, instead of calling all of the buddies to come down.

A guy from work caught a nice Northern below the dam yesterday. I think he said it was 16 lbs if I'm remembering right.

I was in Woodford to check my treestand for the upcoming CWD hunt, so i decided to head over to the argyle dam for a while. it was my first time ever fishing there. and i pulled out a 15 1/2" walleye and a smallmouth. i was using a jig n twister. seems like it could be a pretty good spot.

Hey Nutomadison, Catfish and walleye are all over in this river. It doesn't seem to matter where either. Way upstream or way down... I've had good luck where ever I have tried.

Don't do much walleye fishing in the summer... just spring and fall. (floating jighead with crawler or minnow- quarter to eighth oz. slip sinker.)

Catfish all summer long... 2-3 lb'ers on sonny's blood stink bait ( I use a #10 or #12 treble hook with a small sponge) If you want the bigger ones use chubs or I really like sucker cut bait. For the cut bait, I use a bigger treble hook #8 or #6---big chunk of filleted sucker and at least a quarter to half oz. slip sinker.

By way up, I mean the mifflin or mineral point branch. By way down, I mean to the Argyle dam.

I live in Darlington and grew up north of Belmont, so I have spent the better part of 54 years fishing this river. Believe me, it has way more fish than people think, and some lunkers too... caught 5 nice cats last time out...(2-6 lbs)

How have things been on this river? I only stopped by on it once last summer with no luck, I think in Blanchardville. Any suggestions on what parts are good would be great... Thanks.

Fished below the dam for about 5 hours, threw everything I could think of. Only managed a carp on a crawler. Other than that, nothing.
