Fish otter several times per winter, agree with what Muskyjo1 said.
Otter Lake, Chippewa County
Not sure about Springs on Otter, but they use to put Aerator's on the south and north end. Not sure if they still do, but they always put barriers around them when they turn them on in the past. I wouldn't worry about driving on once you do, last year people drive all over the lake and someone usually plow's a road from the north landing down to the south landing. I would think they're driving on Otter by now. People that have put their trucks through on other lakes were just in area's that they had no business driving or weren't aware of where they were.
We held off on hauling the permanent out last weekend (I didn't want to be the guy in the news), we're targeting this weekend to drive it on. Hopefully I'll have time to fish. Anyone been driving on? Any other permanents out there? I drove by Menomin today and there were several trucks and permanents out, not sure if that is a good comparison.
I called the bait shop and he said there are springs on this lake. Anyone know where they are at?

Was out catching little crappies today. Another guy did as well as me. Saw 1 guy driving his truck out. Another was parked just off shore. I wouldn't recommend driving just yet, but it won't be long.
I spoke to a angler at the North boat landing, he was out on the lake on Friday and it had 7" at that time. I would assume it has more by now. There were a few portables out from the north and south boat landing yesterday. 2 smaller permanents in the narrow section by the campground (i'm told they're locals and probably pushed them out).
I have a couple questions, please feel free to PM me your response.
1. If you're out here this week, could you let me know the ice conditions? We're looking at bringing out our permanent shack this weekend and want to know if it is safe.
2. Are there any areas that have weaker ice on this lake? Springs, narrow points etc.
3. Any suggestions on fishing locations/cribs etc. Targeting panfish mainly but would like to fish walleye and northern as well.
4. Is there a night bite on this lake? Our shack is set up with bunks so there will be a few all nighters.
Thanks in advance

Fished for a couple hours this morning. Caught one small perch with wax worm. Ice was 4.5-5inches where I was. Stayed pretty close to landing set up out by one of the islands. Talked to a couple guys on Sunday who walked farther south and ice got pretty thin. Down to 2inches in spots. A few spots I wanted to try near shore but ice looked too sketchy to walk on.
Spent another 5min at the landing picking up a pile of garbage some idiots decided to dump in parking area. I hope some time I catch who is doing it.

Fished off of west hill. 5 inches of ice. FYI, trail to lake has moved to north side of parking area. Marked fish almost constantly, many 4 to 6 inch crappies, future looks bright. Kept 14 between gills and crappies. Biggest were 9 inch gill and a 10.5 crappie.

My wife and I fished Otter lake last weweekend. We did get enough crappies for a meal but the bite was very slow and didn't get many keepers. Mostly small crappies and small bluegills. We have fished Otter many times this summer and only caught enough to get 2 meals. It seems like this lake that use to produce good fishing is over fished.
