Could have just posted on it and it would have brought it to the top. Not a big deal. There's a ton of duplicate threads.

I did see all of the postings but I looked at a majority of them and the most recent update was early last year. I am trying to start a newer one. Thanks for letting me know

I suspected that, too. Sometimes I have to click twice to get it to actually search … or even wipe the page clean and start over with a double click search.

I was thinking the same thing when I first saw this, but in his defense there was an issue with the search function earlier and it wasn't providing any results.

Hey B … There are 19 report pages already for this same topic, and that doesn't include this one. It's great that you want to post, but do a search first. I typed in 'Oconto' and got 139 results, 19 of which pertained to your area. When you do a search, it's not necessary to type in the exact location, for instance 'below the dam, to the right of the 3rd rock, unless it's under water, etc.' Usually the top report has the most entries and is the most popular. Good luck! Smile

Hi, There really isn't anything on here for the Oconto river for fishing reports which is surprising. I would like to start posting my results throughout the year with different fishing situations, and maybe try to receive some tips from other people in the Oconto area. I recently just moved here and the fishing is very slow and down. I have been able to get high numbers of smallmouth in a few spots along the river below the stiles Dann. Today I went out, conditions weren't ideal for smallmouths with it being sunny and very warm but I did manage to get a few fish, though I really had to work for them. I started out with a swim bait that I did have some luck on early summer. A white, 6" paddle tail that I keep as close the the bottom as possible. Managed to catch one fish. I then moved to a green pumpkin colored tube, 3 inches, trying to imate a crayfish. With this I casted up river and let the current carry the bait, jig wait selection is key. Not to heavy where it drops between rocks and not to light where it doesn't even hit bottom. Fish were hitting this few and far between. Bit again, I did manage to get a few smaller smallies. And my third and final selection was a 5 inch senko straight worm rigged weightless wacky style. I was using black/blue, but green or purple have been working well also. The key is that it's weightless. Let it hit the bottom and jig it lightly and let it flutter back down. They will 95‰ of the time hit on the drop. I needed to fish it unbelievably slow. The fish were not active or aggressive by anymeans. The were held up in deeper water and tight against structure. My best location was along a concrete wall in Oconto and the fish were less then a foot from the wall. Again fish the worm as slow as possibly (doesn't hurt to pause it for a moment in the bottom.) this was very effective and I managed to catch 6 fish in an hour all around the 15" Range. This is a horrible time of year for fishing the river but if you fish it right you can still catch fish. If anyone has any tips for me let me know. I would like to know a few for the trout fishing in the fall I've heard so much about. Again i just moved to the area a few months ago and just trying to get a handle on the fishing situation.
