Good ice, 6-8" everywhere we drilled. White bass were very active, hitting the slab rap early in the am. Might go back to try a new area

Was hoping for crappies but was surprised in the size and quantity of gills. I know this is a rarity for this lake. I've never had a stellar day on Neshonoc, but I've had a good hour or less here and there. All before 8:30

Hadn't seen a report on here for awhile so thought I would post. I got out for a few hours Sunday evening. It was a beautiful night but rather breezy when I first arrived so I thought I would drift fish for crappies. This has been very successful for me in the past. I use both straight lines with small jigs and minnows as well as bobber rigs. I caught two walleyes both around 13" one big bluegill a perch one crappie and three channel cats. Never would have guessed that mixed bag. I missed a number of fish as well and know that many of those may have been crappies. The number of crappies has definitely dropped from what it was. They did catch a fair number of fish right from the handicap dock over the last couple of weeks leading up to this weekend. I always enjoy this lake as it is close to my home.

Tight lines

Hey Blazingreel, I have been out there a couple of times this year but not for a week or two. While there are a few keeper crappies being caught the majority are running small. It is going to take a couple of years to get that year class to keepable size. I did catch a couple of decent gills both trips but not enough of them to keep my interest. As for bait, the folks at Neshonoc Sports will take good care of you. They have a brand new shop and gas station on Hwy 16.

West Salem Neshonoc Derby this Saturday January 24th. This is always a good time. Every fish caught is registered for the first place drawing in its category. The food is awesome and the beer tent is always a good time. Hope to see you there! Cool

Trackerrat, I was on the end of the dock at the south launch this fall in September. It was a hot windless day and there was a constant boil about 50-100 yds out and maybe 200yds wide. There must have been what seemed like a million fish. I kept casting a small spoon toward the boil with no success but after awhile the boil moved in to where my casts could reach. I caught about 20 small whitebass, none over 6". Should be fun next year when these fish get bigger...Got a few nice panfish here on early ice but action has slowed quite a bit.
