Decided to get back to my roots today and do some good ole' shore fishing (as putting in the boat seemed like more work than i wanted). Found myself at an old favorite that has produced many nice fish years ago. Was shocked to see how disgusting and disrespectfull some people can be. Trash everywhere looked like a landfil around our beautifil Wisconsin Riverl!! I spend more time cleaning up crap than fishing. Next time i do some shore fishing i will be sure to bring a garbage bag to encourage these slobs to clean up after themselves.

As for the fishing- acting is heating up... Good luck to all that have respect of our natural resources!!

today DaWitt's Wine Outdoors and guest hit the Mosinee Flowage. Not much action but all we did was troll water is cooling fast. The warmest water temps that we found was a balmy 63 degrees. With the forecast in the low 30s for tonight and the rest of the week I suspect we will have mid to low 50s by the weekend. We caught 4 fish only took pictures of 2. Judging by all the bait-fish in the main river channel I suspect the fall minnow bite has picked up hardcore. I will probably attempt to get back out Saturday. The sunset was amazing I sometimes its not what you catch its the company you have with you. Tight lines and be safe.

Today 8-9-15 DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors and guest hit Mosinee Flowage around 11 am. We started where we had been fishing the previous trips with dead calm conditions. The young guy got his first musky the video footage is priceless. We found so after making a few passes with limited success we decided to head up river to troll up by the power plant we hit a lot of bass most in the 12 to 15 inch range in 4 to 6 foot of water. Firetiger was the hot color today we definitely caught more fish going into the current then we did going with the current. Our trolling speeds ranged from 1.8 to 3.5 MPH didn’t find a consistent speed they liked. We had to outrun the rain back to the landing. Tight lines and be safe

DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors got on the water for 3 hours this afternoon much more of the same as Tuesday. The shallow water summer bite is on big time. We are getting them in 1 to 5 feet of water. The majority of the fish coming in the 3 to 4 feet of water with wood in the area. The hot producing color has been firetiger. Tolling them from 2.5 to 3.5 mph. We took one home to add to the 3 we had from the previous fishing trip to add to our walleye fish fry tomorrow. I believe the wind has a lot to do with the fish I am catching wasn’t as windy as previous days so they did not bite as well. Tight lines and be safe.

Today DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors went out on Mosinee Flowage for some trolling crank baits. I decided to start where I have been having good success in In Half Moon Lake I quickly realized it wasn’t the right spot today only caught one small walleye after trolling a few other locations with no luck. So I decided to try a spot I have had a lot of luck over the years. That was the right move caught over 20 walleyes and 2 northern pike. Overall I had a blast we got on fish consistently after hunting for them a bit. We caught most of our fish in under 4 feet of water. Trolling firetiger colored lure fairly fast from 2.5 to 3.5. We got a 15,16,19.5 Well tight lines everyone and be safe.

Today DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors fish the Mosinee Flowage solo in-between storms and rain. I tried in the 6 to 8 foot that was successful last time and that produced none. So I decided to try back in the shallow the water was 75 and the fish were in there I caught most of my fish in the muddy water again with a brisk 15 to 20 mph wind. I caught most of my fish on rattle trap style lures. I caught most of my fish going into the wind at 3.4 mph which I had to go just to keep the boat from blowing into the shore. Tight lines and be safe.

DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors hit the Mosinee Flowage in Mosinee finally hit the bigger fish just proves persistence pays off and I was fishing the right area because I caught them in the same place as previous trips. We trolled the halfmoon lake portion of Mosinee Flowage and hit them in 6 to 8 foot of water #5 Flicker shads in the Red Tiger color and the Bloody Froggy color worked best for us we trolled shorelines to start then we proceeded to wind blow points and shorelines and bang we got into some big fish fun times as always fishing with my dad. Tight lines and be safe out there.

DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors hit the Mosinee Flowage. I hit the water at around 6 am. I started by heading to the muddy water where I did real well last time. First couple passes I hit fish and then nothing I think the sun got high enough they just shut down. So I went out to certain areas of the river channel that I know hold fish. I struck out in those locations. So I when I headed back to the landing I hit an old trolling pass that fizzled out last year and bang got a couple of small fish so I am hoping that’s a good sign that that pass is holding fish again. I found my best luck in 4 feet of water with wood trolling speeds were definitely faster 3.0mph to 3.5 the fish wanted it faster today. Well tight lines and be safe

DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors hit the Mosinee Flowage solo. I started off trolling right from the boat landing at River Park only got one small walleye. I then proceeded into Halfmoon Lake where the water was much muddier than the main river. That seemed to be the ticket I got out of the muddy water and not a single bite firetiger was the color. I caught around 25 walleyes a lot of 14.5 inch fish. I got sick of taking pictures of them after a couple. There was also a couple that were so close to the mark I couldn’t tell if they were legal so I let them live another day.

Today DaWitt’s Wine Outdoors team member hit the Mosinee Flowage at 9 am we started right from the landing trolling with Cotton Cordell rattle trap style lures when we got to the first point we hooked into a big fat musky. We were overmatched and it bent hooks on the lure and it pulled free. We then proceeded up the river heading into Half Moon lake portion of the Mosinee Flowage we tried shorelines for bass with no success. So we went back to trolling shorelines in Half Moon Lake where we found a hot stretch we found that the 2.5 to 3.0 mph trolling speed was the ticket. We trolled in 2 to 6 feet of water. Never changed baits from what we started with. We took a 16 inch walleye and 2 crappie home for a fish fry they were fantastic. Here is the video from the trip.
