Was just curious how the fishing has been inside of the break wall as of late and how clean the water is? I am debating coming and doing some CPR fishing tomorrow (trolling in my kayak), but just wanted to see if anyone has been doing any good as it's going to be a cold one.

Thanks for the tip Rob! I did try this, but knowing that it has to be done that way will help my efforts next time.

Normally you have to open the lock and turn the handle at the same time. Ive seen people turn around because they can't get through the same door I've opened. Also, some will be open, some not.

When are the gates opened for fishing in the marina? I went down there yesterday, there were signs on the gates saying open for fishing but everything was locked up.

Thanks in advance. - Zach

Went Fishing on 1/17/2015 caught 1 Brown. Lots of people out probably around 25 to 40 people fishing. I found a spot between some a couple of fisherman and the guys next to me caught roughly 4 browns. Not to bad lots of tip up going off and lots of dropped baits too. 30" 13#'s I would also like to thank the gentleman for helping me land this monster and wish them good luck and hope to see them on the ice again.

Went out yesterday and fished 7:30-2 put out tip-ups with golden shiners and jigged a Rattlin Rap. Had one up to the hole on the Rattlin rap, nothing on the shiners. Saw a 7 pound Brown caught right next to the Docks on the south end of the Marina. A very cold and windy day.

From my experiences, the only time you see anyone limit out is river fishing during the run. During the salmon run, limiting out is pretty easy and common. During the trout run, you see it now and again (usually right after a fresh batch comes up).

However, in harbors or piers, limiting out is pretty rare. You have some days (like a week or so last spring) where you could limit out pretty easily, but that is pretty rare. I would guess it is due to the wider area, so less fish per area. Usually if someone says they limited out, they are bsing, though. Fishermen are not known for being honest Wink

But that is even assuming that someone would want to keep 5. There are exceptions, but most people realize that these are pretty big fish (and contain a lot of PCBs and mercury -- don't eat a them more than every other week or so), so 1 fish is enough for several meals. Catch, photo and release is getting more popular, especially with digital cameras being on every cell phone.
