Checked a couple spots on Mcdill. 1inch or less in most spots although most of the pond is skimmed over. Should be good in a few days.
Mainly all small gills, lots of pike in here but many are too small to keep because of the regulations down here. I feel as though they should lower the regulations on pike in here so that they can grow, right now they seem a bit overpopulated and stunted.
Went from shore last couple days after work got a couple dandy gills had on one big northern that bit off bluegill rig all fish let go to spawn got my bait at the new self serve on Coolidge ave in plover nice selection of bait there
Izaak Walton fisheree this weekend, maybe one of those gators will show. Only bad part, taking it to the tent would probably turn into a dead fish which would be a shame. Anyhow fun couple of hours of fishing so I'll be in attendance

Lol wow... I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is an abundance of 20-28 inch pike in Mcdill. For those of you who think there are no big ones, ex. 35+, you are def wrong. I have caught multiple fish pushing 40 and two over since they drained it. I've caught mid 20"s pike and had them stolen by the big mamas. You will also see plenty of massive teeth/jaw marks on 1 of every 20 snakes you catch. As for the panfish. Yes, they are there. Ton of bluegills. Many nice perch which is surprising. Crappies still scarce. I too have witnessed people keeping too many as well as loading up on potato chip gills.. Sad that this body of water didn't even have a proper chance to recover. A few years closed to fishing would have done wonders.

KOlson- since when has McDill been a 10 min pan waterbody?? Or do you mean ppl are taking 25+ pans? 36" pike you sure that intel's correct... that's a big fish, 26" is the largest I've personally pulled, and they are not abundant here! i think someones pulling your leg... 36" is the biggest pike I've ever caught & NO way was it from here, tons of little snakes though.

McDill is recovering from the extended drawdown, but we need your help. PLEASE stick to the take 10 or enough for a fish fry, and let the rest go rule. We have had reports of people keeping over the limit, and the DNR has been notified and is actively patrolling McDill. If you see someone taking beyond the limit PLEASE take the license plate and call the TIP-WDNR # to file an anonymous report. While the panfish are coming back, we need everyone to help by only taking a meal worth. PS - many reports of 36" and longer pikes scaring the panfish away, so lifting a few legal pike out of McDill would be beneficial. Thanks - Krista Olson McDill Lake District President.
