Quincy:

It is always navigable between lakes even when the water down... As posted 3 post below, they will start their annual drawdown around Oct. 1st. Hope to be fishing it some this week, if I do, I'll let ya know...

I'm making a 2 hour trek up to the chain for the first time with my 8 year old son and was wondering if anyone can point us towards the bass, strickly CPR.

I assume some lakes are better than others? More smallies or largemouths? Tips? Suggestions? You can email me privately if you have info you don't want posted. marksteines78@gmail.com

Thanks all, much appreciated. Mark

Hello!

I will be hitting the chain (staying on Alder) this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I've fished it a few times in the past, but in summer conditions. We hit Wild Rice, Island and Fawn mostly.

Any tips for Musky this coming weekend?

Walleye or Smallmouth?

Thanks in advance!

John

CONDITIONS
Raining

AIR TEMP
46° - 50° F

WATER TEMP
61° - 65° F
Water levels were above normal this past week and with the additional rain should remain high. The big cold front midweek slowed things down a bit and forced a change in tactics but fish were biting on red tails and crawlers presented slow and deeper than at the beginning of the week. Smallmouth action was constant even when not being targeted. I was advised on several occasions to keep them rather than catch and release to help abate their numbers and help walleye reproduction. Most fishing was centered on Island Lake.

They will still be dropping the chain this year from what I can tell from local newspaper reports... The lowering of the chain generally starts right around Oct. 1st.
