Started out crappie fishing weed edges with minnows but proved slow. Found gills on beds or tight to docks and boats. Had to almost hit the dock to trigger a bite. Wax worms and nightcrawlers were equally effective. Gotta move around till you find them but they're biting.
IF FISHING IN EAST BAY OR SOUTH BAY FIND THE PANFISH WHERE THE PANFISH ARE THERE IS USUALLY ALWAYS A SKI NEARBY
EARLY AND LATE ARE BEST TIMES DUE TO HEAVY BOAT TRAFFIC
WEST BAY IS A SUSPENDED BITE FOR THE MOST PART OR NIGHT FISH THE WEED EDGES.
PM ME IF YOU WANT MORE SPECIFICS
I have been going up here for the past 5 years around this time for a week at a time and can't seem to hook into a musky over 30 inches and sometimes go the whole week without seeing a fish. I fish the west end weeds, sunken Island, no fish bay, and entrance to south bay with little results. Can anyone PM me some advice as to how to at least see fish consistently on this lake? I am fishing both in the morning and evening and even sometimes with a fly rod to try and switch up the presentation. Save yourself some time and read some other posts if you are gonna tell me to hire a guide.

Despite the cold consistant wind out of the North/NorthEast the walleyes and northerns were activley taking minnows on jigs. I was drifting an area that had no protection from the wind so drifts were very fast for this time of year. The fish were persuing and taking the bait on almost every pass. This was the most productive opening I have ever had in 45 years of fishing the first Saturday in May. Thanks Ray for sellling me those truely "pissed off" minnows, they really worked well.
