Hey locals,

How is the ice doing, do you think it will be gone by opening weekend? I would really appreciate updates, thank you.

IF FISHING IN EAST BAY OR SOUTH BAY FIND THE PANFISH WHERE THE PANFISH ARE THERE IS USUALLY ALWAYS A SKI NEARBY

EARLY AND LATE ARE BEST TIMES DUE TO HEAVY BOAT TRAFFIC

WEST BAY IS A SUSPENDED BITE FOR THE MOST PART OR NIGHT FISH THE WEED EDGES.

PM ME IF YOU WANT MORE SPECIFICS

I have been going up here for the past 5 years around this time for a week at a time and can't seem to hook into a musky over 30 inches and sometimes go the whole week without seeing a fish. I fish the west end weeds, sunken Island, no fish bay, and entrance to south bay with little results. Can anyone PM me some advice as to how to at least see fish consistently on this lake?  I am fishing both in the morning and evening and even sometimes with a fly rod to try and switch up the presentation. Save yourself some time and read some other posts if you are gonna tell me to hire a guide.

Despite the cold consistant wind out of the North/NorthEast the walleyes and northerns were activley taking minnows on jigs. I was drifting an area that had no protection from the wind so drifts were very fast for this time of year. The fish were persuing and taking the bait on almost every pass. This was the most productive opening I have ever had in 45 years of fishing the first Saturday in May. Thanks Ray for sellling me those truely "pissed off" minnows, they really worked well.

Will be up in couple of weeks, anyone have any info on where to get some pike, crappie and walleye? And what works best for catching these this time of year?

Great opening weekend, the weather was fantastic and the fish were hungry. The cabin we rented at Idle Hours Resort was clean and contained everything we needed for a long weekend. I caught several northerns on twister tails tipped with minnows, a nice 19 inch walleye on a jig and minnow. Blue gills were taken on leeches in the shallows. Crappies were caught at dusk on a hook and minnow as they were coming into shore. With the great weather, accommodations and fishing, this was an outstanding opening weekend.
