This little lake is getting absolutely hammered the past couple winters, 20+ people a day on weekends fish this lake.. I know this lake well and the last couple times ive gone out i only catch a few little ones, all the decent gills have been fished out. Last Friday there was 40 people on this little lake throughout the day and i watched people pulling out 5" gills and keeping their limit.. Saw one guy catch a small Pike and he kept it.. there's not many pike that size in this lake. Sad to see a small lake get hammered like this, it could be a good lake in a few years if it didnt get hammered so hard.

In a couple weeks there will be maybe 2-3 people on the weekend fishing it because it gets hit so hard early for its size its fished out within a couple good weekends... that's what happened last year. Fishing isn't good enough to begin with for that many people to hit it that hard I dont get it.

Saw a big group come out and just swiss cheese about a 40 square yard area with tip downs and they were hardly getting anything..

Not sure where Mallard Slayer was fishing in January, but fished Lime this past Sunday and had completely different results. My buddy and I caught quite a few bluegill, but none of them were larger than 4" and one of them was literally 1.5" long! At one point there were 8-10 boats on this small lake at one time. Talked to several different people, and nobody was catching any keepers. Doesn't seem to live up to the hype.

went out and you will need 4 wheel drive to get up and down that hill i went out and fished right of the landing to the right and caught 10-11 inch perch and then i went all the way across and picked up bull gills and crappies gills about 11 inches and the crappies 10-13 inch not a lot of small ones in this lake just have to find them.

Has anyone been out recently? I'm not lookin for a bite report. I am wondering how the snow cover is for driving out there? Slushy? Tons of drift snow? Thanks

Not a bad lake to try. There's fish in it for sure. Everywhere is slow. One word of caution, the hill to the landing can be slick so be sure to have a 4wd truck for going up it. Good luck!

Hey i was just wondering if this lake is any good. Im actually only 15 and do not get to visit portage co lakes very often. I do fish neighboring spring lake quite a bit though but it has been slow this year. I was just wondering if this lake is worth a try. Whether its jigging or with tip ups. Its a beautiful area that i respect very much. Any advice would be be appreciated.
