Would like to fish the derby this weekend and need info on where to park. Looked back into old reports and their is conflicting stories. Some say they lift the parking ban on the street for the derby. Others say that you’ll get a ticket anyways.
Anyways, can anybody confirm that parking is allowed on the street near boat launch?
This is definitely a lake where you have to learn where the spots are. You have to know where the weedbeds are that don't get killed off by the summer spraying. In that channel by beach #2 try half way between the 2 points of land, but on the southern side of the opening. if you have a camera, drop it down there and see if the weed bed is still there, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. If its there you'll get some pan fish. But that spot is affected by heavy ATV and sled traffic. try right in the middle of the bay by the damn, at sunset and shortly after with minnows for perch. Although my last few outing there the perch have been really small. On the south side, try off the point with the big willow tree, 9 to 11 ft of water with a jig and minnow for bass. There are numerous places with short weeds and 5 ft of water, a small minnow on a red Minnesota tear drop right at sunset, and sometimes sunrise, will produce crappies. (I once caught a limit in 3ft of water at sunset.) you have to sit quietly and keep your minnow moving. I've caught my biggest, (and the most) pike in 5 to 6 ft of water.
I have some other secret spots but I'll save those for now.

Been fishing this Lake pretty hard morning and night. Been in the channel by Beach number 2. No luck... Been trying all sorts of bait even 6 inch suckers. Out of four days fishing and 9 tip-ups per day. 2 Total Flags One Missed Pike big at the hole. Everyone says this is a good Lake but where do you fish?
Shallow bay sowtheast of the boat launch where the carp spawn should be a few in there other wise anywhere along shore in the shallow brush is a good place to go, I've caught some good size ones out here biggest being about 33" I'm a fan of bowfin so if your catching them please release them, I know a lot of people think their garbage fish that eat everything they see, but that's just simply not the case, it's a great fish where it's native and in shangrila it is native, so if your not putting it on the wall or the plate let it go
