Lake Noquebay

Went out at day break looking for gills. All I could find was dinks. Lake was like glass and I could see fish feeding on the mayfly (?) hatch in 5 to 8 fow. Started casing a 1/16 oz jig with a blue /silver crappie scrub 2' below a bobber and the crappies were hammering it. Had a limit of crappies between 8 and 14"ers in about 2 hours and was heading home by 9am. Let lots of smaller fish go, fun morning before the holiday tourist came out.

Went out Saturday....2nd attempt to find fish and we luckily did. Had a blast.  Would of got more but had to head home.  ?

Fished today, 9 till 1. Caught a nice mix of gills and crappie. All in the same area, 4' to 7', weed edges.

Went looking for crappie this morning. Hard to find but I did manage 7 nice ones in the lily pads. When cleaning them they were all spawned out. Water was 60 degrees around 11, but air temp was 35 at day break which didn't help.  Time to start chasing gills.

Opening day cold and windy fished shallow no luck. Fished deep found walleys and northerns. Did OK with both

Went out today around 9 to really just put some time on my new motor. I had some crawlers with me and checked out the shallows. Water temp was 51 but around noon it was up to 58 in the dark water shallows. Could see minnows jumping and moved in on them. Caught some keeper gills, a few crappies and a number of bass all in 3 or 4 fow. The bass I kept wasn't going to make it, bleeding badly. Nice day on Noq and rare to have almost no wind all day.

Yeah Polski went fast was off by last Friday.

I stopped by the county park today just to check it out. Ice is gone and some big waves with the weather we had today. The piers are not in yet. 

Great day on the ice with my grandson.
Caught a few nice gills, a lot of small perch that were returned and a Blue perch that was also returned.

Out on the ice today.  Good travel...snow is manageable ND 13 to 14 inches of good ice.
