Got back from the family fishing trip. Fished Thursday, Friday on Nokomis but moved lakes on Saturday due to the wind. Had a really good panfish bite up shallow in the wood and where we could find some nice weeds perch 12+ inches and several big bluegills (9.75 was the biggest). Small pike were everywhere and caught several nice largemouth in shallow water on the Northwest part of the lake. Caught a couple smallmouths on the rocky points also.
Couldn't figure out the walleyes. Water temp was 71 on Thursday but dropped to 65 on Friday with the cooler temps. Only landed 3 short walleyes total. Tried lindy rigging over deeper water in the main basin with the uneven bottom structure with no luck. Also tried trolling cranks on the breaks around points and up the Tomahawk River inlet with no luck on walleyes. I think this quick spring has them a bit mixed up on where they should be.
Good time as always!
Heading up Thursday morning for our annual family fishing trip! Second year on this lake (we normally rotate lakes every 2-3 years). Last year we did fairly well, but this spring has been a bit odd.
Anyone willing to provide any insights on where to start looking to catch walleyes or smallies? Anyone know of any guides willing to be paid a "consulting fee" for a quick phone conversation as we will have 3 kids under 6 with us so going out on a guiding trip wouldn't be ideal since we have to call it once the kids start losing interest.
